LPKF ProtoMat S 104: Advanced PCB Milling for Rapid Prototyping

At the heart of our PCB prototyping capabilities is the LPKF ProtoMat S 104 Advanced PCB Milling Machine. This highly accurate piece of equipment represents the cutting edge of PCB prototyping technology, allowing us to create PCB and antenna prototypes in as little as 30 minutes with the highest available speed in the industry.

The ProtoMat S 104 isn’t just fast—it’s precise. This level of accuracy is crucial when working with the intricate designs and tight tolerances required in modern wireless devices. Whether we’re prototyping a stamp meta or PCB antenna design, the ProtoMat S 104 ensures that every trace and every cut meets our exacting standards.

How We Utilize Our PCB Milling Machine

Our PCB milling capabilities go far beyond simple board creation. The PCB boards we produce allow our engineers to see a project’s whole framework from the ground up. This holistic view is invaluable in the development process, allowing us to identify potential issues and optimize designs early in the development cycle.

One of the unique capabilities of our PCB milling process is the ability to create stamp metal antennas. These precisely milled antennas can be crucial in developing compact, efficient wireless devices where every millimeter counts.

Perhaps most importantly, our PCB milling capabilities allow us to rapidly iterate on designs based on testing results. When our anechoic chamber tests reveal areas for improvement, we can quickly mill new prototypes with the necessary adjustments. This tight integration between testing and prototyping significantly accelerates the development process, allowing our clients to bring better products to market faster.

3D Printing: Bringing Designs to Life

Complementing our PCB milling capabilities are our advanced 3D printing systems. We maintain three state-of-the-art 3D printers, each serving a specific role in our prototyping process.

Our two Makerbot 3D printers are the workhorses of our additive manufacturing capabilities. These high-end machines offer the ability to create high-strength parts with production-grade ABS plastic. This capability is critical for creating functional prototypes with the dimensional accuracy and material properties needed to truly represent final products.

The printers achieve layer resolutions up to 400 microns, allowing for the creation of highly detailed parts. This level of detail is crucial when prototyping components like antenna housings or device enclosures, where small variations can have significant impacts on performance.

For situations where speed is of the essence, our third 3D printer comes into play. This rapid prototyping machine, capable of layer resolutions up to 50 microns, allows us to quickly iterate on designs and experiment with multiple approaches. When we need to test several variations of a component in quick succession, this printer allows us to produce the necessary parts in record time.

The Power of Integrated Prototyping

What truly sets Field Theory apart is not just the quality of our individual prototyping tools, but how we integrate them into a seamless development process. Our ability to rapidly produce PCBs, antennas, and structural components allows us to create complete, functional prototypes in timeframes that were once thought impossible.

This integrated approach, combined with our advanced testing capabilities, creates a powerful iterative development cycle. We can design, prototype, test, and refine designs with unprecedented speed and precision. For our clients, this means shorter development times, more refined final products, and ultimately, a stronger position in the competitive wireless technology market.

At Field Theory, we believe that great ideas deserve great prototypes. With our advanced PCB milling and 3D printing capabilities, we’re ready to bring your wireless technology concepts to life with unparalleled speed and precision. Experience the Field Theory difference in prototyping today.
